Tye Hallowell is entering his fifth season at Independence Community College.
Hallowell has spent the past 4 seasons as Assistant Coach, and was named the
Pirate skipper late in the summer of 2007. His coaching career began at the
high school level, coaching in the McCook American Legion Baseball program in
his hometown of McCook Nebraska. During that time he spent three years as an
assistant, and two years at the helm, prior to his arrival at ICC. Hallowell
has been an integral part of the recent success of the Pirate baseball program
both on and off the field. His recruiting efforts have helped build Pirate
baseball into a KJCCC contender. Last season marked a record-breaking year for ICC
as they set the school record for season wins, conference wins and qualified for
their first trip to the Region 6 tournament in Wichita. Coach Hallowell was
also responsible for recruiting former Pirate pitcher Josh Beal, who was drafted
(and signed) this past year by the Cincinnati Reds in the 44th round.
