Basketball Coach
Donnie
Jackson begins his first season as the assistant men's basketball coach at
Independence Community College. Jackson had prior stints at Kansas Wesleyan
University and Sterling College.
Prior to joining the staff at ICC, Jackson spent one season as an assistant
men's coach at Kansas Wesleyan University. Jackson helped lead the Coyotes to a
28-4 record, as well as a 2007 KCAC conference and postseason championship. The
Coyotes also advanced to the second round of the NAIA national tournament and
finished with a #6 national ranking.
Prior to Kansas Wesleyan, Jackson spent four seasons as an assistant coach at
Sterling College. During his time at Sterling, Jackson helped lead the Warriors
to two NAIA national tournament appearances (2004 & 2006), a KCAC conference
tournament championship, and four consecutive second place conference finishes
(2003-2006).
During 2000-02 Jackson played two seasons at Sterling College.
Following his senior season, Jackson was named an NAIA Honorable Mention
All-American and a Unanimous First Team All-KCAC player after averaging 14.2 ppg.
and 7.2 rpg and helping the Warriors to an 18-11 overall mark.
Prior to Sterling, Jackson spent two seasons, 1998-2000, playing in the Jayhawk
Conference at Allen County Community College. Originally from Topeka, KS,
Jackson graduated from Highland Park High School.
Donnie completed his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at Sterling
College and his graduate degree at Fort Hays State University. Jackson was also
the Sterling College Intramural Director, adjunct instructor, and was the
Assistant Resident Hall Director of Kilbourn Hall. Jackson was also the head
men's and women's tennis coach at Kansas Wesleyan University.
