Pirates 21-game Win Streak Snapped
ICC jumped out to a 13-6 lead to start the contest. Coffeyville rallied and took the lead with an 18-0 run to make the score 24-13 in favor of the Red Ravens. ICC stayed in the game though, and with a late 8-3 run at the end of the first half, ICC saw itself trailing just by four going into the intermission 28-32.
In the beginning of the second half, James Bush scored a lay-up to cut the Coffeyville lead to 2 points. ICC could not get any closer the rest of the contest. Battling a 4-7 point deficit the entire second half, ICC just did not have enough to get over the hump. ICC had the lead down to four with 2 minutes to go, but a fading away three point basket by the Red Ravens put ICC's hopes on the backburner.
Foul trouble and poor shooting cost the Pirates in the contest. Antonio Hanson and Daniel Rowe battled foul problems all night and ICC shot just 10/29 in the first half and 6/12 from the foul line. The second half was better, but ICC could not respond. ICC lost 76-81.
James Bush led the Pirates with 16 points. Donald Rowe was close behind with 14 points. Antonio Hanson scored 11 points and TJ Stukes added 10. Stukes also grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked 2 shots. Michael Craion led ICC with 3 steals.
Independence is currently 22-4 (13-1) and will travel to face Highland Community College in Highland, KS on Wednesday, February 18th at 7:00 pm.
