 Defense Leads Indy to Win in Conference Opener

Independence, KS-   The Independence Pirates held Johnson County scoreless over a 10 1/2 minute stretch in the first half and led by as many as 18 in the game to open the conference portion of the season with a 75-68 win.  With the win, Indy pushes their winning streak to 9 straight games and are now 10-3 (1-0) heading into their contest with Labette Community College.

Antonio Hanson hit five 3's in the second half to offset the zone defense that Johnson County employed on them.  Hanson finished with 15 points, all in the second half.  Daniel Rowe also added 15 points, including 7/7 from the free throw line.  Hanson and Rowe both added 7 assists.  Donald Rowe had 13 points and James Bush added 10.  Bush led the Pirates in rebounding with 7. 

ICC travels to Parsons, KS to take on Labette in the second game of the conference season at 7 pm.
