Hanson
leads ICC to Two Wins
Garden City, KS-
Sophomore Guard Antonio Hanson helped lead the Independence
Community College Pirates to two victories this weekend at the Garden City
Thanksgiving Classic.
The Pirates entered the classic with a 4-3 record, having won three
consecutive games, and would look to add two more over a high scoring 8-1 Frank
Phillips (TX) Plainsman team and a big and athletic 9-1 Garden City Broncbusters club.
The Pirates proved that they could score some points in the
opener against Frank Phillips. ICC scored 105 points to fend off the Plainsmen
105-99. Antonio Hanson led the way with 33 points, 5 assists and 2 steals.
Hanson was also 10-10 from the foul line. James Bush added his second
double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Mekan
Moss added 13 points and 6 rebounds. TJ Stukes and Donald Rowe both added 12
points,
respectively.
In the second contest of the Classic, ICC showed the Jayhawk West
Garden City Broncbusters some hard work and grit. ICC jumped out to a 17 point
lead in the first half behind some tremendous defense and did not look back.
ICC held Garden City to 29% shooting in a 72-59 victory.
Hanson once again led the way for ICC with 17 points, 7 rebounds,
and 5 steals. Freshman Daniel Rowe turned in another solid performance on the
year with 15 points and 4 rebounds. Mekan Moss added 13 points and 5 rebounds.
TJ Stukes added 6 blocks.
The Pirates improve to 6-3 on the season and are currently riding
a 5 game winning streak. ICC will participate in the KJCCC Jayhawk Shootout on
December 1st and 2nd. ICC will play at 9pm Saturday night
in a rematch against NEO and Sunday afternoon at 5pm against Cloud County.
