Three ICC basketball players
garnered All-Conference recognition
as chosen by the conference
coaches and announced at the conclusion of Tuesday night’s Region VI

ICC saw its season come to an end
with a heartbreaking 70-68 OT loss in the quarterfinals of the
Region VI tournament to the Cloud County Thunderbirds. ICC had
a chance to win the game in regulation, but a shot by Donald Rowe
just rimmed out. At the end of OT, ICC had another chance to
win the ball game, but the shot came up just a little short.
ICC forced 27 turnovers but could not overcome their shooting woes.
ICC shot just 41% on the game. James Bush led the ICC Pirates
with 13 points and 14 rebounds. ICC finished its season with
an overall record of 26-6 with highlights of a 21-game winning
streak and its 5th consecutive 2nd place Jayhawk East finish.
The Pirates were also ranked as high as #16 in the NJCAA.
March 5th, 2008
The Pirates opened up the First
Round of the Region VI tournament in fine fashion with a 98-53
victory over the Pratt Beavers. Five players scored in doubled
figures and Antonio Hanson led the Pirates with 26 points, 5
rebounds, and 5 assists. TJ Stukes followed with 14 points.
Mekan Moss added 12, followed by Donald Rowe and James Bush with 10
apiece. The Pirates will now move on to the Quarterfinals of
the Region VI tournament, which is held at Koch Arena at Wichita
State University in Wichita, KS. ICC will face the Cloud
County Thunderbirds on Sunday, March 9th at 5 pm.
March 4th, 2008

Sophomore Antonio Hanson was
named
named KJCCC Jayhawk East Player of the Week for the third time this
season. Hanson averaged
25 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3 steals per game in wins over
Neosho and Allen County. Hanson helped ICC improved its
overall mark to 25-5 and 16-2 in conference play.
March 2nd, 2008
The ICC Pirates will host their
First Round game of the Region VI tournament on Wednesday, March
5th, 2008 at 8 pm. ICC locked up the #2 seed with a second
place conference finish and a 25-5 overall record and a 16-2 mark in
conference. ICC will face the Pratt Community College Beavers,
who are the #7 seed on the Western side.

The Independence Pirates finished
off the regular season in fine form with a 74-56 victory over the

The Independence Pirates kept
themselves in the hunt for a share of the Jayhawk East Conference
Championship with a win over the Neosho County Panthers 76-53.

The Pirates dropped a close game
on the road to Cowley College 76-72. ICC led by as many as 5
points in the second half, but a 3 minute lapse proved costly for
the Pirates. Indy tried to fight back, but to no avail.
ICC was led in scoring by James Bush with 18 points. Donald
Rowe added 15 points and 9 rebounds. The loss dropped the Pirates to
second place in the conference, one game behind the Cowley Tigers.

The ICC Pirates redeemed their
first loss of conference with a 101-88 victory over the Highland

#20 Independence had their
21-game win streak snapped Saturday night at Coffeyville 76-81.

The 20th ranked ICC Pirates had no trouble
with the Kansas City, KS Blue Devils in their first road game of a
four-game road trip. The Pirates wrapped up the contest with

The Independence Pirates picked
up two more conference wins to improve to 21-3 and 12-0 in league
play. ICC really shared the basketball in both victories with
six players scoring in double figures in a 95-69 win over Labette
and seven players scored in double figures in a 98-66 win over Ft.

February 5th, 2008

Sophomore James Bush has been
named KJCCC Jayhawk East Player of the Week after two strong
performances that led to two Pirate victories. Bush averaged
13.5 points and 13 rebounds per game in wins over Allen County and
Johnson County. Bush also chipped in a steal per game.
ICC improved its record to 19-3 (10-0) and won their 18th
consecutive contest.
