Lady Pirate Basketball

Lady Pirates Fall to 4th Ranked Team in Country

The Independence women's basketball team concluded a tough weekend Saturday falling to the Lady Lions of Arkansas-Fort Smith. ICC fell behind early and was never able to mount much of a charge during the first half. On a brighter note, the second half was much more competitive. Indy was outscored 39-34 in the second half. "That's a really good team over there." said Head Coach Tony Turner. "That's the type of team we will see if we make it to the national tournament. We took our lumps tonight, but I think it makes us a better team in the long run."

Sophomore Jolene Tamboue led the Lady Pirates in scoring with 14 points.

The Lady Pirates will return to action on Saturday, December 1 in Coffeyville, KS for the Jayhawk Shootout. ICC will take on Seward County Community College at 3pm. Indy will face Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Sunday, December 2 at 7pm also in the Shootout.
