Lady Pirate Basketball

Lady Pirates Shoot Self Out of Game

It was a fairly chilly Friday night in Coffeyville as the Independence women's basketball team took on the Lady Cowgirls of Connors State College in the first game of the Community State Bank Thanksgiving Classic. The cold temperatures outside paled in comparison to the cold shooting inside Nellis Hall by the Lady Pirates. "We just couldn't get any outside shots to fall." said Head Coach Tony Turner. "Don't get me wrong...I want our shooters to shoot the ball, but we need to do a better job of understanding what is and what is not a good shot." ICC connected on only 5 of the 27 three point shots they hoisted.

Sophomores Ashley Gladden and Robertson Olanya led Indy with 15 point a piece. Chelsea Trimble also added 13 points.

The Lady Pirates will face #4 Arkansas Fort-Smith Saturday at 5pm in Coffeyville for their final game of the Community State Bank Thanksgiving Classic.
