Lady Pirates Go 2-0 in
Classic
The Independence women's basketball team jumped on Dodge City Community College
early with a 13-0 lead and never looked back. ICC held the Lady Conqs scoreless
until the 10:36 mark of the first half. "Winning is always a good thing, but we
won't reach our potential as a team until we start putting together two halves
of basketball." said Head Coach Tony Turner. "I want our girls to feel good
about winning, but we need to learn how to finish games strong." Indy led at the
half 30-12.
Sophomore Chelsea Trimble led all scorers with 16 points. The Delia, KS native
hit 4 of 8 from deep. Jolene Tamboue broke out of a little mini-scoring slump
with 15 points. The Sophomore out of Manhattan, KS also grabbed 7 boards.
Indy travels to Wilburton, OK
Tuesday, November 20 for the rematch with Eastern Oklahoma State. Indy won the
first game 84-59. The Lady Pirates conclude a busy week of action as they go to
Coffeyville, KS for the Community State Bank Thanksgiving Classic. Friday, Nov.
23 ICC plays Connors State at 5pm and Saturday, Nov. 24 Indy plays Arkansas-Fort
Smith at 5pm.
