Lady Pirate Basketball
ICC Bounces Back in Big Way
The loss Wednesday night at Labette did not sit well with the Independence
women's basketball team. The Lady Pirates had no intentions of losing two road
conferences games in a row as they cruised to a 72-47 win over the Lady
Greyhounds of Fort Scott Community College. "Our girls got a reminder at Labette
how tough life can be on the road in the Jayhawk Conference." said Coach Tony
Turner. "We wanted to come in here today and take care of business and I think
we did." Indy led 37-28 at the half and never looked back in the second half.
The Lady Pirates were led by sophomore Ashley Gladden's 17 points and 8
rebounds. Gladden
was extremely efficient as she hit 5 of 6 field goal attempts and was a perfect
7 for 7 from the free throw line.
Independence plays the first of four home games in a row on Wednesday night vs
Kansas City Kansas Community College. Tip off vs the Lady Blue Devils is at 6pm.
