Lady Pirates Fall to NEO

The Independence women's basketball suffered a 63-56 at the hands of the Lady Norse from Northeastern A&M. A second half rally by the Lady Pirates was not enough to overcome an extremely poor start. "I don't want to take anything away from NEO, because they are a really good team and played pretty well tonight" said Head Coach Tony Turner. "but I think we let that Seward win go to our heads a little bit and forgot to come in and take care of business tonight." Coach Turner was referring to the previous nights win over #12 Seward County. "This is a tough way to end the semester, but now we need to focus on trying to win a conference title." Turner stated.

A balanced scoring attack was led by Sophomore Jolene Tamboue with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Ashley Gladden (13), Chelsea Trimble (13), and Rhea Codio (10) were also in double figures in scoring.

ICC and NEO played the final game of the 2007-2008 Jayhawk Shootout. The Eastern Division finished with a 12 to 8 win advantage over the Western Division. Click HERE for complete 07-08 Jayhawk Shootout Results.

The Lady Pirates have completed the nonconference portion of their schedule and will return to action Saturday, January 5 at the Fieldhouse verses the Lady Cavaliers of Johnson County Community College. Tip off will be at 2pm.
