Position Summary |
||
|
The role of the Grant Professional includes seeking grant opportunities, preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in the areas of education, technology, energy, and business partnerships and collaborations. Responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects. |

Qualifications |
||
|
Bachelor's Degree required in related discipline; Master's Degree in related field preferred. Three to five years experience and demonstrated success in grant and or proposal writing; grant writing for higher education and/or the arts desirable. Highly motivated and proactive individual, and superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are a must. |

This is a full-time, 12-month position with vacation, personal and sick leave, and excellent insurance program. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. |

Job Description Grant Professional The Grant Professional researches, organizes and writes grant proposals that support short- and long-term fundraising goals of Independence Community College. Identifies, cultivates and solicits funding prospects and requests for proposals from corporate, governmental and private sources to support new and existing ICC programs. Serves as liaison and resource to ICC faculty and staff to identify funding sources and explain and oversee procedures necessary to obtain funding. Excellent grant writing skills, analytical ability and an in-depth knowledge of research techniques are key components to the success of this position. The position reports directly to the President. Primary Responsibilities1. Works closely with the ICC Administrators to identify priorities and needs to pursue through grant development. 2. Researches government, foundation and corporate grantmakers to identify prospects and to assist in developing proposal strategies. 3. Writes grant proposals to solicit, retain and maximize financial support. May recommend funding opportunities to pursue. 4. Completes approved grant proposals/applications, in accordance with required formats. 5. Writes letters of intent, concept papers, follow up letters, and other grant related documents as needed. 6. Produces status reports on grant activity. 7. Serves as a resource development advisor for faculty and staff and coordinates and communicates all ICC grant activity including any necessary follow up reports to funders. 8. May assist with writing process, proposal development, research, data collection, and development of budget and supporting materials. 9. Researches, analyzes, and compiles data, professional reports and articles in support of the grant proposal preparation. 10. Other duties as assigned by the President. General Qualifications 1. Knowledge of fundraising information sources, basic fundraising techniques and strategies, and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research. 2. Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors. 3. Excellent written and oral communication skills. 4. Ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals; strong editing skills and attention to detail. 5. Excellent research, planning, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills. 6. Ability to use electronic systems for effective information flow; gathering data, compiling information, and preparing grants and reports; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based research. 7. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 8. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 9. Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills; ability to meet deadlines. 10. Demonstrate initiative, creativity, team work, conflict resolution/decision making skills. 11. Ability to work ethically and maintain confidentiality. 12. Serve as an ambassador to ICC on campus and in the community. Specific Qualifications 1.
