CMA Training set to
Begin this Month
This is the perfect time
to begin work towards a
career in the medical
field with Independence
Community College
offering a Certified
Medication Aide class.
ICC’s Allied Health
courses give students a
working knowledge and
prepare them for
employment in the
medical field.
The Certified Medication
Aide (CMA) class is
being taught by Allied
Health Long Term Care
Vocational Trainer
Suzanne McDonald, RN.
Training will begin on
Monday, July 28th and
continue through
September 5th. The
class sessions will be
held in AC115 of the
Academic Building at ICC
on Mondays and Tuesdays,
from 5:00-9:00 p.m. On
Fridays, from 7:00 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m., classes
will be held at the
Independence Corporate
Office Building, Room
323, or the Regal Estate
of Glenwood for
clinicals.
CMA is a five credit
hour course designed to
promote the specific
skills required in the
performance of duties
and responsibilities in
administering medication
safely. Successful
completion of the class
prepares the student to
take the Kansas State
Examination for
certification by the
State Department of
Health & Environment.
Students enrolling in
the class must have
Kansas certified nurse
aide certification, and
must successfully pass
the CASAS reading test
(8th grade level).
